I couldn’t be more thrilled. For the fall semester, the English Department at Los Medanos College has included the novel in their 100 Freshman Composition class because of its important topics and themes.
Professor Joanna Perry-Folino says, “This novel provides a framework from which bigotry can be discussed safely in the classroom, comparisons can be made, and history can be looked at as a living and breathing reality, when American protests changed the status quo. It fits nicely with essay readings from several sources as well as subjects in ReReading America and Changing Society. Professor Folino has developed the curriculum.”
