The Clock Of Life is an entertaining and absorbing novel. The author’s vivid descriptions allow the reader to share in a time and place that they may never have experienced otherwise. Klann-Moren resurrects a dark yet hopeful period in America’s history, told through the experiences of a young boy, Jason Lee Rainey. Through Jason’s eyes, the author aptly takes on the nature of prejudice, hate, hope and forgiveness. There is a captivating poetical quality in Klann-Moren’s prose. This quality is especially apparent and delightful in her descriptive characterizations. She’s made her characters so real to me that I readily identified with their struggles and triumphs. The novel’s conclusion left me wanting to keep in touch with Jason Lee, hoping that he will attain his dreams. I’m looking forward to reading more from this promising author. Judy Jerde
